Stonehenge

Stonehenge is the most popular viewed monument in the world, it is located in England, and it is believed to be erected around 2500 BC.  The Ditch and Banks are thought to be dug as burial grounds, the banks being the chalk from the ditch.  The mystery is how the hugh stones were brought there and erected into what we think to be, Sun Worship Temple, Healing Center, or even a huge calendar.  What do you Think about Stonehenge?

  2. Am I blogging, hello testing 1,2,3....never done this before. Betty- this is cool! Way to go! So, I know you're about to post a new topic/picture maybe tomorrow, but on Stonehenge...what I would like to say is that it sort of reminds me of the cars that are sticking out of the dirt right outside of Amarillo, Texas. Have you seen this before? Think it was done in the 50's and I forget the name of the artist. It's about a dozen cars in a row, stuck in the dirt about a third of the car deep, and at a 45 degree angle. I think it's human nature to enjoy shock value and juxtaposition things in a way they don't belong, but does that mean it's art? I think so, getting us to look at a car or stone in a way we never have, yes, artful in my opinion. Stonehenge wasn't intended this way, but now we can enjoy it this way or anyway we want. Hopefully the stones will stay clear of taggers, unlike the cars in Texas.
